On May 10, 2018, Dongsi Subdistrict of Dongcheng District of Beijing organized a meeting to invite residents to give suggestions and discuss on courtyard environment management of Dongsiliutiao and Dongsiqitiao hutongs.
After more than one hour of negotiation and discussion, a customized “courtyard convention” was jointly formulated and agreed by residents for the No. 42 Courtyard of Dongsiliutiao Hutong.
The subdistrict subsequently printed the convention with the QR codes that people can scan to view courtyard’s photos before and after renovation. The convention was then posted on the wall after it was signed by the courtyard’s residents.
“There are not many terms in the convention, but we will do our best to comply with them. Owing to great effort of the government and subdistrict, our courtyard’s environment has improved a lot. So we should work together to keep the courtyard tidy and clean and refuse illegal buildings,” said Xu Shiwei, a resident of No. 42 Courtyard.
